About The Artist

Grandpa was a contractor and master cabinet maker whose family migrated from Denmark. He believed in hard work. I was raised with a strong work ethic, helping Grandpa on many projects.

I became a journeyman carpenter after a long period of apprenticing, but after a while, decided to venture into a new territory.......rocks. Through much trial and error, I learned to make the tools I needed for this new trade. Then trying this angle and that bend and with the overwhelming desire to build things that would last a lifetime or more; honed the skills I use in the creation of my art.

This vision encompasses my unique and whimsical blend of natural components, function and fun. Growing up in Salt Lake City along the Wasatch mountain range, I saw the beauty of the rocks, and with my association with blacksmiths throughout my life, learned the strength and durability of both. From picking out that ´perfect´ rock and hand chiseling the stone, to hand-bending solid steel and tilting the back of the bench to that perfect angle supported by the metal becomes a one-of-a-kind functional sculpture that surprises and delights. I have been building benches, chairs, tables, trellises and so many other marvelous things for 14 years now. I love sharing my talent with others.
